Happy Golden Birthday, HeyGiud!

Today is the big day! HeyGiud's Golden Birthday! My "baby" is officially 4!

I went from having one of the worst days of my life to one of the best, overnight. I hadn't given a ton of thought to starting my own business. Okay, that's sort of a lie, I'd started to dream about it in the "wouldn't it be cool if" sense, but not with real thought. I'd only verbalized my desire to name it HeyGiud to my Dad on May 31st and on June 4th there I was designing a website, buying business cards, getting a Tax ID, and frantically texting my Dad asking what else I needed to do. I wasn't prepared, at all. I probably wouldn't have taken that leap if my family and my mentor/former boss hadn't believed in me and my abilities.

Getting shoved off of the cliff was exactly what I needed. I wouldn't have left the safety net of a job with health insurance, paid vacation, and a guaranteed paycheck. This has been the wildest, craziest, scariest, and most amazing experience of my life. The universe knew I needed a nudge and gave it to me.

Yes, there are hard days. There are times I question the decision I made. But every time I do I am reminded of why I do this. I have a freedom I was never given in a previous job because my boss is pretty damn cool. I have the most amazing support system around me, reminding me that I'm not a fraud and am in fact good at what I do. I see the two tiny humans in my life that I'm related to, and countless others that I've somehow become Aunt Annie to, and I'm reminded that pushing through the hard days and the challenges life throws me shows those tiny people that ANYTHING is possible if you believe in yourself.

There will still be hard days. There will still be times I question myself. But today, I hit a milestone that I didn't actually let myself imagine. So happy fourth birthday to my beautiful baby business, HeyGiud. And happy almost fourth birthday to this photo of me. Maybe before the 5th birthday I'll get new headshots.

Thank you for your support, business, friendship, and everything else along the way. I wouldn't be here without each of you.
